Shredded Material Before heating

Testing

Shredded composite material will be placed into the toaster oven from 350-752 degrees F. Timing for the oven is from 30 minutes to 2 hours. Additional testing was done to make sure the shredded material in the oven was reaching the set temperature.

Results:

After the conducting the experiment it was determined that about 20% of the total mass was decayed. Due to the nature of the Carbon Fiber being able to resist heat better than the resin, the 20% decay is from the resin. This was 5% off from meeting the requirement of 25% net decay. Within 5% is close enough to try and separate the fiber. Also for testing 752 degrees F was needed instead of 550 degrees F.

For the second requirement the data showed that the shredded material was reaching the set temperature .
